This is my sixth year as a Library Media Specialist at our school and I LOVE IT!!! I have not always been a librarian. I served eight years in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Electrician and Logistics Plans Technician and I have worked in the mental health field. In addition to my library duties, I write grants for the library and our school. Some of the grants are: STEDTRAIN (2014 & 2015) and Fund for Teachers (2015). I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman College, California, Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Alabama A&M University, Alabama, and a Master’s Degree in Library Media from University of West Alabama, Alabama. I am married to Chuck Berry and we have three children and one granddaughter.

Renaissance Accelerated Reading
Remember that the AR program through Renaissance Place will allow you to take any quiz offered by Renaissance Learning. Be sure to note the quiz number in the front of each AR book when you log in to take a quiz.
Self Check In and Self Check Out
Students in grades K-8th at Madison County Elementary School check their books in and out themselves. To check their books in, students will scan the barcode locating inside the book cover with the hand held scanner and place their book in the blue bin. To check their books out, students will click on their homeroom teacher's name and then their name. Students will scan the barcode located on the inside of the book cover with the hand held scanner. The students will click on "Done".
How to Search for Books
To search for books in the MCES collection, you would need to log into KidsWiz. You may search by author, title, and subject. The most common way to search for a book is to type the information into the search box and click enter. You may narrow your search by book level such as 3.0 to 4.0. You can even narrow the book down to the minimum and maximum Accelerated Reading points, too.
